My mission

TO DELIVER CLASSIC DESIGN IN A MODERN PACKAGE

Why make another watch, aren’t there already tons out there?

I made the Bethany because after years of collecting I still yearned for a watch that offered me my favorite design features without any of the typical drawbacks: gilt dials, stepped bezels, and chamfered lugs without the associated scarcity and fragility.

The Bethany draws on design aspects from watches like the Rolex Submariner 6538, Patek 1591, Longines tre-tacche, and others. In doing so the watch offers a wrist presence that reminds us of our favorite vintage pieces, all while packaged in a modern and durable case.

Simply put the Bethany is the exact watch I wanted in my collection after years of developing my taste. Since starting the project in my college apartment in 2016 I have refined the design to a point I find ideal. I think the Bethany is beautiful, and I hope you do too.

what’s the story behind fuentes watch company?

In January of 2016 I completed a several-year-long passion project of building a Rolex 6538 from parts. Wanting to fill my time constructively and still having critiques on my 6538, I determined I’d “start a watch company” with the goal of producing my ideal watch. I began the design work in SolidWorks one evening and within 48 hours the overwhelming majority of the watch’s design (case, dial, hands) was roughed out.

I began 3D printing prototypes via miscellaneous labs at my disposal before applying for & received funding from the Scholars Independent Research Fund at Northeastern University which allowed me to purchase my own 3D printer. Beginning roughly in May of 2016 progress on the project accelerated, leading to a functional and wearable resin-printed prototype in September of 2016.

Over the next five years I would self-fund the remainder of work on the project including an initial production of five prototypes in steel, one further prototype iteration in steel, and one final production sample in steel.

In August of 2021 I received the production samples for the two variants of the Bethany. Later this year 300 units of the Bethany will be available for sale.
